Despite speculation to the contrary, Paramount announced on September 26th that acclaimed director Martin Scorsese will have a new film released to theaters in 2016. The film is titled “Silence” and is set to hit nationwide cinemas on December 23rd.
The film has often been described as Scorsese’s passion project. He’s been trying to get it released for a long time and it seems he will finally get his wish.
The story is based on a 1966 novel by Shusaku Endo. It follows Jesuit priests in 17th century Japan, as they attempt to fight against persecution and violence. The film will star Liam Neeson, Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield. The Oscar-winning director will be putting an interesting story on the big screen with an extremely talented cast. He will also be working with his longtime cinematographer Jay Cocks. “Silence” has all the makings of an Oscar contender and we look forward to its release.
